Teks Report (Report Text)

Teks report (report text) adalah jenis teks yang mendeskripsikan atau menggambarkan bentuk, ciri atau sifat umum (general) benda, hewan, tumbuh-tumbuhan,  manusia atau peristiwa.
Teks report atau report text memiliki bentuk yang hampir sama dengan descriptive text. Siswa biasanya mengalami kesulitan membedakan antara kedua jenis teks ini.  Perbedaan yang paling mendasar pada kedua jenis teks ini adalah sebagai berikut.
- Report Text  mennggambarkan bentuk, ciri atau sifat benda, hewan, tumbuh-tumbuhan,  manusia atau peristiwa secara umum (general).
- Descriptive Text  mennggambarkan bentuk, ciri atau sifat benda, hewan, tumbuh-tumbuhan,  manusia atau peristiwa secara khusus (specific).
Report text memiliki kerangka atau struktur  (generic structure) sebagai berikut.
1.  General classification: memperkenalkan benda, hewan, tumbuhan, atau seseorang yang akan dibahas. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan membuat definisi atau klasifikasi.
2.  Description: menceritakan bagian, kualitas, sifat, tingkah laku benda, hewan, tumbuhan, atau seseorang yang dideskripsikan.
Tujuan (purpose) teks ini ialah memberikan informasi atau gambaran tentang ciri-ciri umum benda, hewan, tumbuhan, atau manusia.
Kata kerja (tense) yang digunakan biasanya simple present tense. Sekali lagi, teks deskriptif dan report tampaknya sama, tetapi sesungguhnya sangat berbeda. Teks deskriptif memberikan deskripsi sesuatu yang khusus atau tertentu, sedangkan report memberikan deskripsi tentang ciri-ciri umum dari suatu jenis benda hidup atau mati.

Pembahasan Bahasa Inggris " Narrative" dan latihan
  RANGKUMAN MATERI
Narrative Text adalah Text yang berisi dongeng, cerita rakyat, fable, cerita pendek, yang fungsinya untuk menghibur/membuat orang senang. Didalam text Narrative terdapat masalah/problem/complication yang membuat pembaca tertarik untuk mengetahui pemecahan masalah tersebut yang dinamakan resolution/penyelesaian masalah.
Hal yang terpenting dalam suatu cerita Narrative adalah pesan moral yang terkandung dalam cerita tersebut. Sehingga diharapkan siswa dapat mengambil pelajaran berharga yang sangat berguna dalam kehidupannya sehari-hari.

Kalimat yang digunakan dalam cerita narrative adalah kalimat “past tense/lampau”. Sehingga kata keja yang digunakan adalah:

-          V2 (kata kerja lampau)/didn’t
-           Tobe yang digunakan adalah to be past, yaitu was (untuk I, he, she, it),
       dan were ( untuk you, we, they).
-          Modal past ( could, might, would, should)

Functions/Purpose of Narrative Text:
a.       To entertain/to amuse: Untuk menghibur
b.      To tell a story about…….

Generic Structure of the Narrative Text :
1.      Orientation :  
Pendahuluan, yang berisi setting dari cerita tersebut, dimana (where), 
kapan ( when),  siapa (who) , tentang apa (what).
2.      Complication/ problem:
 Masalah yang menjadi bagian yang harus ada dalam text narrative.
3.      Resolution :
Pemecahan masalah. Bagian ini adalah merupakan akhir dari permasalaha dalam
     cerita,  mungkin brakhir dengan menyenangkan (happy ending) atau menyedihkan
     (sad ending).
4.      Reorientation: 
      Bagian ini dapat berupa kesimpulan dari cerita tersebut, atau berisi pendapat  
      pencerita  (writer’s opinion) /nasehat (advice of the writer).
                  Soal yang biasanya muncul dalam text narrative:
A.    Gambaran umum/Topic of the text
-          What is the text about?
-          The topic of the story is…..
-          The text tells us about……..
B.     Main Idea of the paragraph:
-          What is the main idea of the second paragraph?
-          The main idea of paragraph three is……
C.     Content of the story, dengan menanyakan when, where, who, what, why, how dsb, tentang peristiwa dalam cerita tersebut.
-          Where did the story happen?
-          Who are the characters of the story?
-          How did the dove help the ant?
-          Why did the ant bite the hunter’s leg?
D.    Makna kata:
-          What is the same meaning of the word”….” in the text above?
-          What is the opposite meaning of ”….”?

E. Reference:  Menanyakan kata ganti dari kata yang telah disebut sebelumnya.
-          The word “them” refers to……
-          What does the word “us” refer to?
F. Moral Value: Pesan moral/nilai yang terkandung dalam cerita tersebut. Pesan moral pasti  berupa nasehat yang baik.
-          What is the moral value of the story?
-          What can we get from the story?
-          From the story, we can conclude that……
-          We can learn from the text that…….

Contoh-contoh moral values :

-    Where there is a will there is a a way: dimana ada kemauan disitu ada jalan.
-          Preventing is better than curing: mencegah lebih baik dari mengobati.
-          Kindness will bear luckiness, while evil will cause unluckiness: kebaikan membuahkan keberuntungan, sedangkan kejahata menyebabkan kesialan.
-          Standing on our own foos is important: Penting berdiri di atas kaki sendiri.
-          Never ever trust other people whenever we haven’t known: Jangan pernah percaya pada orang lain selagi kita belum mengenalnya.
-          Think first deeply before taking action: berfikir dl dengan matang sebelum bertindak.
-          Wealthy doesn’t always bring happiness: Kekayaan tidak selalu membawa kebahagiaan.
-          Frienship is the most important in our life: persahabatan sangat penting dalam hidup kita.
-          Choose your friend carefully: pilihlah temanmu dengan hati-hati.
-          Tricky people often deceive the stupid one; Orang yang licik sering membodohi orang bodoh.
-          Mother’s love never ends: Cinta ibu tak pernah berakhir.
-          Never disrespect the mother: Jangan pernah tidak menghormati ibu.
-          Don’t underestimate to the inferior: Jangan meremehkan orang yang lebih rendah.
-          Friend in need is a friend indeed: teman sejati
-          Living in a harmony is precious: hidup dalam keserasian adalah sesuatu yang berharga.
-          Greed can bring to poorness: keserakahan membawa kemiskinan.
-          It’s much easier to say than to do: lebih mudah mengatakan daripada melakukan.
-          Keep silent is better than talk a lot: diam lebih baik daripada banyak ngomong.
-          Don’t blame yourself for something bad: jangan butakan dirimu akan sesuatu yang buruk.
-          To err is human: berbuat kesalahan itu manusiawi.

Cell phone is a modern communication device which connects one to the others by voice, written message and data. However this device cannot work until the SIM card is inserted.
When inserting the SIM Card to cell phone, make sure that the cell phone has been switched off and follow the direction bellow:
First of all, press the locking catch and slide the cover then lift it off the phone.
After that, push two catches in the opposite directions and remove the battery.
Next, slide the SIM card carefully into the slot and make sure that the golden connect arson are facing to the connector of the phone.
Then, put the battery and align it until snaps into its place.
Finally, insert the two catches of the back cover corresponding slot in the phone and slide the cover forward button of the phone until locks into place
Don't forget to switch on the cell phone. Wait until it is ready to use.
